Text Box: Elizabeth Strout creates a microcosm of the world in Olive Kitteridge, a series of 13 interlocking tales with the nosy Olive Kitteridge at the center. Crosby, Maine may actually be at the end of the earth, but Strout’s penetrating prose reveals the essence of the human drama in Crosby’s small town ways. As Olive, a retired schoolteacher, watches the townspeople struggle with their problems and triumph in their successes, she begins to learn a few things about herself.
